How long does the process take?
The process varies for each family. The average search ranges from 2 weeks to 3 months once you have completed our online family application and purchased one of our membership services. We have had families who hire the first nanny they meet, and others who interview several candidates before making a decision.
What are Premium Services?
A dedicated Family Placement Director is available 24 hours, 7 days a week to assist you with the hiring and selection of your service staff. Our prices are affordable and we do not charge additional placement fees. Please call our toll free number at 1-866-950-2495 for more information about our Premium Services.
How old are your caregivers?
We require our nanny candidates to be at least 18 years of age and babysitters to be at least 16 years of age.
How much should I expect to pay my nanny?
Salaries can range from $350 to $1000+ per week, depending upon the nanny’s experience, education background, location, and duties she will be performing in the position. We let you work with your nanny to find an appropriate compensation. Also, as part of our Premium Services package we perform all salary planning and negotiations.
How far in advance should I start looking for a candidate?
We typically recommend that you start your search about 2 months before you will need someone (no more than 3 months). The reason is because most of the candidates registered with our site are either already available or will be in the very near future, so planning on interviewing and hiring too early will likely not be as fruitful. You may, however, select and pay for membership and when we determine there is a candidate that seems ideal for you and she/he has indicated a start date that is close to your required date, we will inform you.
Where does My Good Nanny find their nannies?
My Good Nanny was started with love. Our owner and founder did a lot of research and interviews as well as grew up with Nannies and knows what qualities work well with families. It is the same process that we use to find our candidates – we only take 20% of our caregivers from prescreened databases. We receive up to 80% of our candidates through referrals from other caregivers and from previous clients. We also advertise for various positions.
What type of duties are nannies willing to perform?
It can depend upon the family and on what is agreed upon between the nanny and family. General responsibilities include the children’s laundry, cleaning of the children’s areas and kitchen after meals, grocery shopping, errands, and meal preparation for the children. Most nannies do not do housekeeping and cooking except what pertains to the children, and this can quickly become a sticking point of these duties are expected and have not been previously agreed upon. With our nannies – a lot of them expect if you want them to drive your children around – you provide liability insurance and access to a car.

We know that things happen and you may be called away to work, or have a function, or a need to travel, etc. We work with you to find a nanny that can help you temporarily or permanently. Please call our toll free number at 1-866-950-2495 for more information about our Nanny ASAP Service.
How can I keep my nanny for the long term?
Clearly define expectations for hours, compensation, job responsibilities, etc. We strongly recommend using a nanny work agreement that spells out expectations for both the nanny and employer. Maintain boundaries around the nanny’s hours and be respectful of the nanny’s off hours. Working significant unpaid and unanticipated overtime is one of the main reasons nannies leave their jobs. Annual raises and year-end bonuses for good service are great ways to show your nanny that you think she is doing a great job with your children. Communicate! Set up daily or weekly “briefings” to discuss the children, issues, etc.
